The curb is what separates the sidewalk from the roadway and directs rainwater along the gutter to the catch basin. When a curb is broken, sunken or missing, water pools on the walk, the sidewalk edge is left unsupported, and the frontage looks neglected.
Curb problems we repair
Curbs cracked or knocked out by vehicles, curbs sunk below the roadway so the gutter no longer drains, curb faces worn away by snow ploughs, and driveway aprons where the curb cut has crumbled. We also rebuild corner returns where two curb lines meet and take the most impact.
How curb work is done
Damaged sections are cut out cleanly rather than chipped away, so the new work bonds to sound concrete. Forms are set to restore the correct height and line relative to the roadway and the sidewalk, concrete is poured and the exposed face is finished to match the existing curb. Curb work sits in the public right of way, so it is permitted and built to the DOT standard for the location.
